Sailboat Invitations

I recently finished these sailboat invitations. I think they're absolutely perfect for a baby shower, but they're so versatile they would work for a bridal shower or birthday party (or, or, or)!

They're available on my website here or at Bitsy's Greetings on Etsy here. They're shown here on linen cardstock, but I'm happy to print on a different type of stock. I'm just addicted to linen lately. Beautiful, isn't it? (Make sure you click on the photo to see the detail.)

Amy Whinehouse is the New Hallmark

It's true.  I have more competition.  (Ha, like Hallmark was ever my competition...)  Amy Whinehouse is coming out with her own line of greeting cards.

Anyway, I enjoyed this one--especially because my 4 year old always asks to listen to "the no no song".  We'll teach her about rehab some other time.

Need a logo, banner, business card?

Hello all! Every now & again I try to do something 'nice' for my community--those who have helped grow my business & do what I love. I do things like freebies on my blog, giveaways, etc.

Today I thought I'd offer graphic design at a low price. If you need a logo, banner for here on blogger or elsewhere on the web, business card, ad--you name it--just name your price.

No joke. I'm serious. I'd just like to do a little something to say "Thank you, Etsy!" Whatever you want to call it, I try to take the time to do small acts that help someone out--I know it comes back to my family.

(Examples of graphic design by me, BitsyCreations can be found below and on my website: http://bitsycreations.com under graphic design and in my Etsy shop: http://bitsycreations.etsy.com in my graphic design section.)

Tell your friends!!!

Birth Announcement & Shower Coupon!

Is it just me or is EVERYONE having a baby right now? Okay, maybe not everyone, but it seems like a lot of women I know are pregnant.

So I thought it might be fun to have a little online coupon. ;)
(Click to see the small print.)

When you order, just let me know you saw the 5 free coupon & I'll send them along! This is good for ANY of my birth announcements or shower invitations. You can even ask for a custom design! I LOVE doing custom designs. LOVE them.
(You can view my invitations and announcements at bitsysgreetings.etsy.com and bitsycreations.com)

A little honesty moment--It was this way when we were trying to have our second, too. It was difficult for us to conceive the second time around for some reason & so many women I knew were expecting. If this is the case for you right now, please know you're not alone. It's such a hard time in your life & a lot of people overlook it. *Hugs*

Happy Father's Day! :)

Happy Father's Day to the best dad out there, Mr. Bitsy. :)  hehe Just kidding.
We love Dad so much in our home.  We're blessed enough to live very close to where he works so he comes home for lunch each day.  Every time he walks in the door for lunch or at the end of the work day, there's a little celebration. :)  He's Mr. Fixit--he can fix everything from a broken lamp to a cut on a knee.  (And personally, I think he's GREAT at fixing hurt feelings when I'm having a bad day.)

We love him so much! :)

We've started a little tradition, too.  Last year I posted an alchemy request on Etsy for custom cuff links.  I was going for cheesy, but sweet.  (And didn't want to get him a tie.)  I was absolutely amazed with how much I loved these!!

The lovely & talented Artistic Flair created them.  She has a fantastic shop full of fused glass--PLEASE go check it out.  You won't be disappointed!

Here's this years--Isn't that just fun?

I want.

I totally have these shoes. No joke. Mine are EXACTLY like this. And I look smokin' hot in them, too.
Therefore, I need this print by the lovely dottylotty on Etsy. I looked and looked for a photo of me in said shoes, but I can't find. :( I'll try again some day and you'll agree with me. I promise. Best. shoes. ever.

Aha! I KNEW I had it! Here it is. Me... in the shoes. Gosh I love those shoes. (This was post-baby #1, I know that, but I don't remember exactly when... 3? 4 years ago?)

Business Cards for Life

Overnightprints.com is currently running a contest. You design a business card for www.shoemoney.com and if you win, you get free business cards for life. Wouldn't that be fantastic? You can't beat the quality of the business cards at overnightprints.com, too. They're fantsatic.

So I thought, why not?
Here's my submission. I admit, it's not my best work, but it's really difficult to design for someone you've never spoken to...

Bitsy Freebie: html code box

You may have seen that I've been trying to do some freebies here & there. I'm *still* working on some Twitter buttons... sorry, sorry.

But for now, I'd like to offer to create an html code box for your blog. See how on my right-hand menu I have the copy & paste box so you can put my button on your blog? I can do that for you. ;) For free. If you have a button already, Great! If not, I can whip something up for you based on your current logo, graphics, etc. (As long as you don't ask me to use an image or graphic that's not yours, we're fine.)

So just give me a shout & I'll make one for you.

You can enjoy this little freebie until next Friday (June 26th). Feel free to e-mail me: joan AT bitsycreations.com

Ooooor I might figure out how to paste the code for you here to copy & paste. I just can't figure out how to make it so you're not just seeing the actual code box. I'll get there.

1000th Sale Sale!

Yes, I just said 'sale sale'. When I'm excited, I repeat myself.
Ha! Just kidding.
I am very close to reaching 1,000 sales at BitsyCreations.etsy.com!
Can you believe it?
So I thought, "How can I thank my customers?"
I'd love to give a little free gift to my 1,000th customer, but that only benefits one person!
So why not have a sale?

Why not, indeed--So from now until said 1,000th sale is reached, you will get

15% off all items at

*When you make a purchase, just type in 'sale' when you check out. I'll send you a revised invoice.

Just think--You can get my great printable stationery for under $4! Purchase once and print over & over & over. :)

I've been a member of the Etsy community for about two and a half years and it has been such a blessing to me. Yes there have been times where I wanted to scream (i.e. undelivered products, people who took advantage of me being too nice in the beginning and designing before they paid, and odd pettiness in the forums) but you live and learn, don't you? I've met so many lovely people through Etsy. I enjoy my little chats with my customers--I feel so much more 'adult-like' when I work during naptime and have a conversation with someone above the age of 4.

I hope you stop by and take advantage of the sale to say thank you. I really love my customers & am so glad for your support! If you haven't purchased anything from me before, then REALLY come take advantage of my sale. ;) 1,000 sales in one shop must say something about my products and customer service, right?

Here are just SOME of the things on sale:

Custom Graphic Design

Fabric Labels

Birth Announcements

Greeting Cards & Invitations

Some Recent Logos

I'm sure I've mentioned before that creating logos is one of my favorite things to do. And not just my favorite business thing to do--I do this in my free time--when I'm having 'me' time because I enjoy it so much.

Recently, I had the opportunity to work on a few logo designs. First, I created a new logo for an orthodontist who has an office down the street from our new home. His old logo was a bit hard to understand if you weren't dentalwork-savy!! ;) So here's the new logo:

I also designed new letterhead and business cards for the office. The business card design turned out so well! I can't wait to see the finished product once they're printed. They wanted something a little different than 'the norm' so people would keep the card--not just throw it in a pocket or purse. We chose to create foldover business cards--I'll have to see if I can stop by and pick up a printed card to get a photo:This was such a great project for me. I thoroughly enjoyed it, so I thought I'd share a bit of the design process. Dr. Robison's office has such a calming feel--Definitely something you want in an orthodontist's office, right? It's full of organic lines as well as geometric shapes. It makes for a great effect. It's also these beautiful green & purple colors. We knew we wanted the logo to reflect that feeling & combination of organic & geometric.

Dr. Robison had a few different initial ideas he wanted to see, one being a variation of how he signs his name with the 'S' and 'R' joined together, so here are some of the proofs I sent durint the design process. You can see how we tried some edits to particular ideas to change the look. I love seeing how it evolved and looking at the final decision.

My personal favorite was Q2. I'm so happy with the end result, though! It's sure to look great on their new products.

I've been working on a few more recently, so I'll be back later to share! If you're interested in having a logo designed by BitsyCreations, please take a look at my website for examples and policies or contact me with questions.

(As always, ALL graphics shared here are copyright of BitsyCreations and may not be copied or reproduced. They may be shared with permission.)

I'm *so* getting this

We have an unfinished 'basement'. It's really not a basement... it's ground-level... Anyway, it's an unfinished rec. room. When we finish it, it will be a playroom/home theatre.

I really, really, really must have this for the play area when we finish it.
I love it. LOVE it.
So funny & very cute.

You can get it on a tee. I may have to do that since it'll probably be a million years before we can finish our rec. room.

SuperMom of Summer: Dolce Baci

If there's a little girl in your life--whether it be your daughter, granddaughter or niece, you will be thrilled to find Dolce Baci! Angie, self-taught seemstress and mother of two boys (yes, no girls to wear those fantastic items!) is the owner & creator at Dolce Baci. She is admitedly a perfectionist, which you can easily see when you look over the items she creates. Angie offers unique and distinctive clothing for baby & toddler girls.

"It all started when my husband gave me a sewing Machine for Mothers day about
4 years ago," Angie says. "I had saved many of my boy's baby clothes wanting to use them
to make a memory quilt for them and from there made them some clothing and gifts for family and friends for birthdays. Just by word of mouth I have had people call me to purchase clothing and evently came across Etsy and started selling there and now even have our own website. It all has been such a blessing for our family."

Angie's sons are in school, so I asked what her plans were for her work while they were home for the summer. She said the past summers have been a little difficult to keep up on work because she enjoys spending that time with them so much (hiking, swimming, and small family getaways)! Angie will have help now, though! She's expanded to the point that she was able to hire some assistants who are also work-at-home-moms! They'll help with the sewing to keep up on orders. She says, "I have had several people approach me on having my items manufactured but I just can't get myself to do that...I really want to keep our items handmade and if that means more work for stay at home moms that is a blessing for them and me."

Saying that Angie is 'organized' is clearly an understatement. She had so many great tips to share:
"If I'm not working on a project with the boys and need to get some of my work done I have them do what we call room time and table time.

"Room time is when I tell them they need to go play in their room for an hour and that is what they do and I get that time to work. I'm right down the hall so I can hear them if there is any problem.

"Table time is the other one we do. I pull out the big vinyl table cloth and cover our dining room table and let them do crafts. They paint, play with playdough, build things with my empty spools of thread, kleanex boxes and other things around the house. They love it!

"And of couse there is always the back yard. My boys love to be outside and my office looks out to the back yard so I just open the window and I can hear them and keep an eye on them to make sure they are safe."

Dolce Baci is currently running a giveaway worth $75! There will be two winners & you have until June 17th to enter! Enter on her blog here.

I really enjoyed reading through Angie's answers to my questions. She has so many hopes and plans for the future. She does plan on starting a small clothing line for boys, which I'm thrilled about! ;) Angie is clearly a woman of faith, though, which is such an example to me. She noted that she needs to wait until the time is right--that things will be accomplished in God's time. She feels so blessed to have a loving & supportive husband as well as two wonderful sons.

All the best to you, your family, and your delightful business, Angie!

Handmade News

Well that was a nice surprise! I just got an e-mail from handmadenews.org (Artfire.com's newsletter) that they had used a collection of my logos for an article!

You can read it here:

It was an especially nice surprise because my artfire shop hasn't been my #1 priority lately and that's where this opportunity came from.

SuperMom of Summer: gogovivi

When I look at the photos of the bags at gogovivi, I can't help but want to reach out and touch them. I want to feel and smell the leather--I want to see those vivid colors in person! And I promise, these bags are on my wishlist.

Kiley, owner of gogovivi has been selling her bags since 2007. She has a website and a shop on Etsy.com. Having sewn her whole life, she started out making simple pouches, "but quickly started to design [her] own cloth handbags. Six months later [she] started making leather bags and immediately knew [she] had found [her] medium." Located in China, Kiley was able to find a source for leather surplus from shoe factories. She loves working with surplus leather because it is an ecologically sound practice and because there are so many fun colors and textures to choose from that she may not have otherwise chosen.

Kiley and her husband have one daughter who is 3 and a half. In 2005, Kiley ended her career as a public health scientist when they moved overseas. They lived in Korea for three years and now live in China. They love living overseas! When Kiley's daughter was 18 months old, she began attending a nursery school which gave Kiley a few hours each day to start her business. She gets most of her work done while her daughter is in school. As she puts it, her daughter is "just a gregarious, outgoing people person and doesn't much like to be on her own. There are just too many hazards in my studio, and she's just TOO three years old for her to spend time with me there while I work."

Kiley is an inspiration to all work at home moms--and I don't say that lightly! When she started her business, she says she promised her husband she wouldn't lose money and so far, she's been able to keep that promise. She's also had the challenge of setting up a business in China where there's a large language barrier for her. The SuperMom of Summer title is so fitting for her--a self-taught designer with beautiful bags, a lovely family, and *ahem* is learning Mandarin in her spare time. Don't you love it?! :)

You can find gogovivi online here:

More New--Zoo Invitations

What can I say? When I get on a role, I can really pop out some new designs. ;)
Well, this one's using some old illustrations AND some new ones. I'm excited that my birthday invitation selection is growing, though! :)

They are, of course, available at Bitsy's Greetings on Etsy & will shortly be available on my website.

Circus Invitations

I had a customer ask for circus/carnival themed invitations. Without any real guidelines, I let my imagination run a bit wild.

I'll be honest... I'm really not much for the circus. But look! I made invitations that are precious. :) Even if my husband DID say that it looked like a circus AND Easter threw up... Thanks, Dearest.

The invitations come in pink or orange. Colors and fonts can be customized to your liking, of course. They're available at Bitsy's Greetings on Etsy now & will be on my website shortly.

New Birth Announcements

I know I keep saying I have more invitations and birth announcements to add.  If only I had about 48 hours in every day... No, scratch that.  If I had more time where Mr. Baby slept... ;)

But here are some new birth announcements!

They're available at Bitsy's Greetings on etsy and will be available on my website shortly.
As always, colors and fonts can be changed to your liking.  Also as always, I welcome custom orders, so if you don't particularly love any of my announcements, I can make one especially for you!

(P.S.--If you have any newborn or couple photos you wouldn't mind me using for things like this, I'd love you forever.)
