Visiting Teaching Free Printable - September 2014

Oh my. I've wanted to offer monthly free printables for Visiting Teaching for a very long time. For one reason or another, I've stopped myself. Some months it was simply because I was too busy. Other months, I talked myself out of it. I hate the idea of putting pressure on someone to "add something cute". We don't need that. We don't need to stay up late the night before a visit or a function just so we can take something homemade or crafty.

But what it comes down to is that I want to help #sharegoodness. So I've made this as simple as possible. Print it! Frame it, don't frame it. Stick it in a letter. Share it on Facebook. Do what works for you to help those you love remember these amazing, inspired messages each month.

Read this month's message here.

(This is a high resolution file ready for printing at 5x7 inches.)

(This is for web use only. It is not a high enough resolution for print.)

This month's free visiting teaching printable is super simple because it's already September 2nd and I wanted to get something to you as quickly as possible. This quote really touched me. We all show our love and support in different ways. We also each feel love in individual ways. A warm embrace doesn't do much for me other than make me uncomfortable. But a laugh together absolutely unites me and those I shared it with.

As always, feel free to share, but please be respectful of my time and efforts. Please do not change this printable, claim as your own, or sell (in any part). Thank you!!

Review: Pley Lego Rentals

Do your kids love legos? And do they love getting mail? Here's my review of Pley lego rentals.(Disclaimer: This is NOT a paid review. I'm just a mom who tried Pley with her kids & wanted to pass along my experience.)

Before our Summer Break began, we started looking around the internet for summer fun ideas. We started adding to our Memorable Summers list on Pinterest and came across Pley

Pley is a monthly subscription box that is delivered right to you. And let me tell you--it's FAST! I couldn't believe just how quickly we got a new set after returning the one we were finished with. (We mailed ours on a Monday and received a new one on a Thursday and we're on opposite ends of the country!)

They have 100s of Lego sets to choose from and offer 3 subscription options from $15 - $40 per month. The best news? Your first month is free! You can also refer your friends and a $10 credit will be applied to your account (once your referrals become paying members)We started out with their middle option and were able to choose from some pretty large sets and then later downgraded to their cheapest ($15/month) option and are still pleased with the wide selection. My kids are 9 and 6 and the selection was great. We saw a lot of duplo options for the younger crowd, too.

Here are our adorable (and blurry) pictures of some of the Lego projects we've done with sets from Pley.

The Pley website is set up so nicely! It's super organized and user friendly. We were able to set up a "pleylist" of the sets we'd like to borrow. We can check and see what's coming next and move a different set up to the top of the list.

Pley sets have been such an awesome thing for us to have around this summer on the crazy hot days or on the afternoons we needed some down time. I know we'll love having new Lego sets come straight to our door during the colder months of winter!

Are you convinced? I know we were. Go sign up now!

Great for teacher gifts for the holidays, Teacher Appreciation Day, or the end of the year!

You can download your own free printable JPG on my website here--you do not need to add anything to your cart. This print measures 8x10 inches.

There are still gentleman out there...

"There are still gentleman out there."

That's what my daughter's P.E. teacher said to her this morning as he helped her out of the car and sent her on her way into the school building. I adore the teachers and staff at my children's school. They are truly the most amazing group I have ever encountered. (My degree is in Elementary Education, so I spent a lot of time in different schools when I was in college.)

I was so grateful for these teachers who stand out on rainy days and in the very cold in the winter... but in that moment where Coach reminded my daughter that there are still gentleman out there, my heart was full of gratitude for my husband.

From the beginning of our relationship, I've bemoaned the fact that he opens the car door for me. I know how to open my own car door! I'm pretty sure I've even said that. But when it comes down to it, that's not why he does it. (And as much as I roll my eyes, I know that.)

I know my kids will understand what being a gentleman is. They'll know they still exist because their dad is an amazing example of a true gentleman.

I used to blog...

Lately, we've been doing a lot of cleaning up around our home. We bought our house about 4 years ago and it's been one project after another to try to fix it up. As a result, we haven't even unpacked some boxes in the basement and the attic.

I grabbed a box full of journals and scrapbooks the other day. I thumbed through, thinking I'd just find a new place to put them... but they drew me in! I've stopped writing. I've stopped blogging. And honestly, I've stopped talking.

I've never been a talker, so it was easy to stop all these things. But we all need time to reflect on things, don't we? We need time to stop and think about our regular routine to notice what's actually happening.

I'm hoping to start blogging again on a regular basis. Let's hope I can!
