"There are still gentleman out there."
That's what my daughter's P.E. teacher said to her this morning as he helped her out of the car and sent her on her way into the school building. I adore the teachers and staff at my children's school. They are truly the most amazing group I have ever encountered. (My degree is in Elementary Education, so I spent a lot of time in different schools when I was in college.)
I was so grateful for these teachers who stand out on rainy days and in the very cold in the winter... but in that moment where Coach reminded my daughter that there are still gentleman out there, my heart was full of gratitude for my husband.
From the beginning of our relationship, I've bemoaned the fact that he opens the car door for me. I know how to open my own car door! I'm pretty sure I've even said that. But when it comes down to it, that's not why he does it. (And as much as I roll my eyes, I know that.)
I know my kids will understand what being a gentleman is. They'll know they still exist because their dad is an amazing example of a true gentleman.
